SACRED CAVES:
[cuevas sagradas]

The ancestral Tainos emerged from one cave Cacibajagua, while the ancestors of the non-Taino came out of another cave, Amayauna.  Although Taino groups believe humans were created in two caves, doesn't necessarly mean that they were the same two caves; it is possible that each cacicazgo believed the creation of caves lay within its own territory. The cacicazgo of Higuey is full of caves and a great number of them are covered with petroglyhs.  The Chican cultural group (which is the precursor of the Classic Taino) developed in Higuey.  Caves are also homes to colonies of bats, which are the embodiment of the Opias (the soul or spirit of the dead).
AMAYAUNA: Caverna donde habitaban los que no tenian valor, los non-Taino. You can discover more about these tribes and their culture online. They have a rich history and mythology stories. Movies and games were inspired by the folk tales of today's Spanish inheritors. Symbols, gold, and much more were an inspiring theme for many films and games, including casino games—both lucrative and fun, its a great combo of history and modern life.
